MEETINGS OF ZOO PERSONELL TO DISCUSS ENVENOMING RISKS
Zoo keepers and other interested professionals, including clinical toxinologists, hold formal meetings on an irregular basis to discuss issues surrounding keeping venomous fauna, risk management and related matters. Details of scheduled meetings are provided here.
VENOM Adelaide 2010 is open to all persons involved professionally in keeping venomous animals, native and exotic, terrestrial and aquatic, in registered zoos, reptile parks and fauna parks, or in companies undertaking such work, venom researchers and clinical toxinologists. VENOM Adelaide 2010 is designed as a forum for sharing information of relevance to this group on all aspects of venomous animals and their husbandry. The meeting has evolved from past conferences on exotic venomous snakes in zoos & fauna parks.
Venue: The Lyrebird Conference Facility at the Adelaide Zoo, Frome Road, Adelaide
Dates: Tuesday June 15th and Wednesday June 16th, 2010.
Registration: Registration fee Aus$165.00 (includes $15.00 GST). Registration will cover the meeting abstract book, morning & afternoon tea and lunch on each day and the official dinner on the Tuesday evening, which will also be in the Lyrebird Conference Facility.
All eligible persons are encouraged to register for VENOM Adelaide 2010 , which will feature invited presentations by leading international experts on venomous animals and the effects of envenoming. Abstracts are welcome from registrants. The final program will reflect the breadth and depth of topics covered by invited speakers and by submitted abstracts. Invited keynote speakers include:

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION: Deadline for abstracts: May 14th, 2010
Abstracts should contain: (1) Title; (2) full name(s) of author(s); (3) zoo/fauna park/other organisational affiliation; (4) text of abstract (120 to 300 words).
Abstracts will only be accepted from registered participants.
Please submit abstracts in digital form as either a simple text file or as an MSWord document, to the program committee for the meeting, c/o Terry Morley (tmorley@zoossa.com.au) or Peter Mirtschin (venoms@venomsupplies.com). A decision on whether an abstract will be presented as an oral presentation (standard 15 mins) or as a poster will be made by the program committee.
